Maintaining an environment for work, learning and living

Our dedicated Campus Operations teams are at the heart of the University’s seamless daily operations. We unlock the doors each morning and ensure the campus is safe, clean, and ready for another day of learning and working each evening. In short, we’re the driving force behind the University’s welcoming environment.

Our managers work closely with their operational teams wherever they are based, to guarantee the University estate runs smoothly. This covers a wide spectrum of responsibilities ranging from managing student residences and handling print and post services, to providing sustainably sourced food. This means we are committed to maintaining every nook and cranny of the University campus. It’s a crucial role, where your contribution will help shape a vibrant and thriving campus community.

Asset Maintenance

We’re a team of building surveyors, mechanical and electrical engineers, fire safety compliance officers, and administrators. Working together, we ensure the integrity of all campus buildings across an iconic, research-intensive estate. This includes collecting building data and developing maintenance plans to ensure they are always in a good state of repair. You’ll contribute to a wide portfolio of projects to maintain the University’s buildings, so they remain fit for purpose. This includes developing solutions to decarbonise an estate that includes many iconic, listed buildings.

Building Services

In this dynamic team, you’ll be working alongside skilled electricians, gas fitters and seasoned tradespeople, ensuring the seamless operation of our buildings each day. Whatever your level of experience, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to develop your existing skills and learn new ones. You’ll constantly enjoy new challenges in an environment that values your unique skills and encourages personal and professional growth.

You could be managing calls on our maintenance helpdesk, fixing a building’s heating system or installing a new energy-efficient, low carbon lighting system. Wherever you work, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining the campus to the highest standards.

Catering

Our in-house catering brand, Source, provides sustainably sourced food at a range of locations across campus. Our team covers a variety of roles over four on-site dining halls and multiple cafés and bars.

You may be an experienced chef, barista or kitchen assistant, or looking for your first catering role. Whatever your background, you’ll help us provide delicious, ethically-sourced food and drink to students, staff, and other visitors to the University.

External Estates

The University’s external estate includes a 70-acre Botanic Garden, as well as Fenswood Farm in South Bristol. In this team, we play a key role in creating and maintaining these natural landscapes to benefit both the University and our local communities.

From sustaining biodiversity to protecting the green infrastructure and looking after artworks, we ensure they can be enjoyed by everyone. Join us and you’ll help to provide safe, relaxing and stimulating spaces for learning, as well as places of enjoyment for the wider community.

Facilities Management

In this team we cover everything from cleaning and security, to welcoming visitors and compliance testing. Our Cleaners are the first people on site each morning and our Estate Assistants switch the lights off at night. Our Security Services team keeps the campus safe seven days (and nights) a week, and our Facilities Managers pull everything together.

Print Services

We have our own print workshops, where we provide departmental, student and commercial printing services. We also design and create promotional materials, and scan and archive important documents. Join us and you could be involved in a wide range of activities, including efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our work.

Residential Facilities

We have 19 halls of residence, as well as contract agreements with 21 other properties throughout Bristol. This means we provide over 8,500 beds for students. In this team, you’ll help to keep all these sites running smoothly. You could be managing the contracts with our accommodation partners, inspecting rooms, repairing or replacing broken items or keeping communal areas clean and safe. Whatever your role, you’ll help to deliver a positive experience for students when they make their home with us.

Venues and Events

The University is lucky enough to hold the keys to a variety of impressive historical and modern buildings across Bristol. We host countless events from weddings to conferences and film recordings. Our team also manages staff residential lettings. Working with us, you’ll have the chance to operate some of Bristol’s most beautiful buildings and create some unforgettable experiences.
